A note about the records: lathe-cut records are cut one-at-a-time into a plexiglass material on old record lathes. The sound is not a clean or loud as vinyl records and the grooves are somewhat shallower. They play well and will not hurt your needle, however, as they do not have the same sound quality as a vinyl record, we like to think of them as a kind of audio artifact

Can you hear the voices Just out of sight? Drifting like the wind All through the haunted night... Can you see the lantern From the iron bridge? Bright as the moonlight Across the eastern ridge... In the mist, we are lost and found. Across the creek, into the Witch Cloud. What is that walking Down the old Road? Silent as a corpse And pale as a ghost. Can you hear the owl Call the coming fright? Hear the weird knocks sound All through the haunted night. In the mist, we are lost and found. Across the creek, into the Witch Cloud. ...into the Witch Cloud.

about

"Suicide Bridge"––the very name evokes darkness and fear. Some say this iron bridge is the most haunted place in all of Gettysburg. Sachs Covered Bridge crosses nearby Marsh Creek, where stories of disembodied floating heads and spectres of hanged soldiers draw ghost hunters nightly. Is there a connection between the two structures?

Employing a combination of historical research, witness interviews, and boots-on-the-ground firsthand experience, Timothy Renner unearths both the history and the legends associated with the two bridges. The stories he uncovers cause him to question what might be haunting the area...and the very nature of ghosts.

Something eerie is happening on these bridges. It may be stranger than the legends suggest.

This audio book / podcast / music assemblage serves as Strange Familiars podcast 300th episode.
