Some Thing
02:24
|
|||
Something walks beside me through the trees.
I can't see it, but it sees me.
Something stalks behind me on the path.
I'd look behind, but I can't.
Something followed me back to my home
And it waits 'til I'm alone.
Something calls my name in the dark night
And I shiver with chill fright.

Where the Crows Go
03:46
|
|||
Have you seen where the crows go?
Have you seen where they fly?
Have you seen where the crows go
To fold up their wings and die?
Have you heard the grey wolves call?
Have you heard how they cry?
Have you seen where the wolves go
To lay down their heads and die?
Where do they go under skies of red?
Where do they part the quick from the dead?
Have felt the cold night air
As you lie in your bed?
Have you felt the cold night air
Whispering the words of the dead?
Have you seen the sleepwalkers
As they drift out of sight?
Have you heard the sleepwalkers
Chanting as they roam though the night?

Twelve Moons
03:15
|
|||
Twelve silver moonshave crossed the sky
All in the time you've been in my mind.
You've been in my mind.
And now you say you shall return
In twelve moons more
And one more day.
And one more day.
Your footfalls sound.
Your footprints fade.
You only stayed one year and one day.
One year and one day.
Twelve lonely moons will cross the sky
And all the time you'll be in my mind.
You'll be in my mind.
Twelve silver moons have crossed the sky
And all that time you've been in my mind.
You've been in my mind.

Wise old skulls be thou free
From your graves deep beneath the sea.
Charmers wake from cold sleep;
Sound your chants let who forget weep.
Black witch bones, all burnt and scarred by flame,
Roll and turn all in the wind and rain.
Diviners come, cast the stones,
Leave us not to our fate alone.
Rhymers spines churn the earth
Let new verse come from your rebirth.
Black witch bones, all burnt and scarred by flame,
Roll and turn all in the wind and rain.
Quicken to me! O, I have grave need.
For songs and spells...
For twig of oak...
For sprig of ash...
For twist of thorn...
For ghost-white stag...
For bone-white bird -
O, I have grave need.

Buried, Lost, Forgotten
02:50
|
|||
Paths once lost and found again,
Like footprints in the falling rain,
Just a trace remains of them
All in the tales of old.
Forgotten once, remembered now;
Echoed in the far off howls;
Seen within the eyes of owls;
The aged way is told.
Buried in the cursed earth.
Hidden in the haunted ground.
Guarded by unseen things.
What was lost is now found.
Charm in pocket, staff in hand,
I slowly step across the land,
Alone but for my Long Lost Friend
And those beyond my sight.
From well-worn path to lonesome way;
Across the creek the white tree sways;
Behind me broken boughs are laid
By shadows dark as night.
I listen to the whispering wind.
It leads me to the very end.
I hear the words that bring me in
All to the secret tomb.
Forgotten once, remembered now;
Echoed in the far off howls;
Witnessed in the eyes of owls
And by the light of the moon.

Bygone Graves
03:00
|
|||
In the grey day beneath wide clouds,
With kiss of frost and bite of thorn
The only things to touch my skin
Since my rst step in the morn.
Alone I walked. Alone I sang
Songs forgotten and unknown;
Red eyes fixed upon my back.
Red sign fixed upon the road.
Wet blood marked the winding way
From lonely wood unto the bygone graves.
I felt its eyes, its piercing glare,
Staring from I knew not where.
I did not see it in the trees
Nor did I hear it walking there.
Dread breathed ice upon my neck.
Each step as thunder in my ear.
The fall of leaves like heavy rain.
The slightest sound stirred my fear.
I dare not turn the way I came,
All afraid of what I fled.
But lo' I wondered soon enough
Was I chased or was I led?

Candle, Corpse, and Bell
02:16
|
|||
Water turns to wine.
Wine turns to blood.
Vines grow around us, love:
Tomorrow we'll be gone.
A candle for a corpse.
A bell for the dead.
Light the candle, ring the bell:
The dawn warms our bed.
Bread turns to flesh.
Life turns to death.
The wheel of fortune turns my love:
The first is now the last.
The tarot's been spread.
The future's been read.
Light the candle, ring the bell:
Tomorrow we'll be dead.
But O! The heart still bleeds
In the dying breath.
Vines entwine the lantern, love:
Come to see undeath.

Eyes of Fire
05:20
|
|||
Stone on stone the cairn does rise
Above the earth: beneath the sky.
The skull is hung upon the tree.
It waits for me. It waits for me.
In lazy arcs the feathers fall
And owls will watch; and crows will caw.
And who is hanged upon the tree?
He waits for me. He waits for me.
Down the hills the bones do roll;
Across the path as seasons show.
The skull is hung upon the tree.
It waits for me. It waits for me.
The tree will speak in cracks and creaks
And hollow knocks and whispering leaves.
And who is hanged upon that tree?
He waits for me. He waits for me.
All from the shadows witches gaze
With eyes of fire all ablaze.
The skull is hung upon the tree.
It waits for me. It waits for me.
And who is hanged upon the tree?
He waits for me. He waits for me.

The Moth's Departure
03:31
|
|||
A leaf falls down upon the creek
And though it's dark I still can see
The moth is now flying away.
It's drawn by the light and the flame.
And I sit beneath a cold moon.
Everything leaves all too soon.
I see the lantern's distant glow
Like an earthbound star and I know...

The Long Lost Friend
02:58
|
|||
Well, the rain shall fall down upon me
While the sun will shine all upon you.
And the wind speaks through the leaves.
And the trees speak to me.
And you sing their songs
While the rain just drums along.
In sunlight or rain we shall love again.
In the shade of trees you will sing to me.
Well, the spider webs stretch over me
While the wild flowers grow over you.
And a storm stirs on your breath.
And tears stain my cheek.
Birds cross the sky to mark this sad goodbye.
In darkness or day we will meet again.
In the shadows long we will sing this song.

Reynardine
04:03
|
|||
One evening as I rambled among the leaves so fine
I overheard a young woman converse with Reynardine.
Her hair was black, her eyes were blue, her mouth was red as wine
And he smiled to look upon her, this sly bold Reynardine.
He said my pretty creature your beauty shines so clear
And on these lonesome mountains I'm glad to meet you here.
She said kind sir please be civil, my company forsake
For by my own opinion I fear you are a rake.
He said I am no rake I'm brought up in Venus train.
I'm seeking for concealment all from the judge's men.
Your beauty has ensnared me: I cannot pass you by
And with my gun I'll guard you all on the mountainside.
Her cherry cheeks and ruby lips, they lost their former dye
As she fell into his arms all on the mountainside.
He had not kissed her once or twice when she came to again
And modestly she asked him: Good sir what is your name?
O, if by chance you look for me, by chance you'll not me find.
'Tis writ in ancient history: my name is Reynardine.
Sun and dark she followed him - his teeth did brightly shine
And he led her over the mountains, this sly bold Reynardine.
So come you pretty fair maids, this warning take by me:
O never go a-roving and shun bad company.
For if you do, you'll surely rue until the day you die -
And beware of meeting Reynardine all on the mountainside..

Osiris
02:33
|
|||
14. |
||||
In your red footsteps,
From drops of blood,
White lilies grow all in the mud.
We walk behind you,
Gathering flowers,
In silent prayer for lonely hours.
Just like your savior,
See how you bleed:
His wounds from nails; your wounds from teeth.
The fierce dragon,
The worm of Hell,
All in this forest once did dwell:
Until a hermit armored with prayer
Followed the dragon unto his lair.
And suffering poison,
And biting wounds,
He crushed the worm upon the ground.

Corpse Candles
05:36
|
|||
In the night we waited and we watched.
In hushed voices we spoke the prophecy.
See the lights are drifting!
See the lights are floating on!
See the lights are changing
Right before our eyes!
In the dark we witnessed and awoke.
In silent awe we saw the ghostly glow.
Corpse candles weave all through the trees.
Will-o-the-wisps whisper things to me.
The desert storms with songs of God.
The locust swarms on crop and sod.
And candles drip their wax on sand
With flames by black wings fanned.
And just beyond the candles' dance,
The shadows held in flick'ring trance:
A subtle glow; a stranger sight -
The Lantern of the Greening Light!
See the lights are drifting!
See the lights are floating on!
See the lights are changing
Right before our eyes!

False Crow
03:02
|
|||
You never see where the crows go;
You never care where they fly.
You never sing in the crow's tongue
Or look through the crow's eye.
You only see through a clouded glass: looking at yourself.
You only see through a colored lens: staring at yourself.
The shadow you are walking through
Is cast just by yourself.
Illusions built from smoke and dust:
A mask you try to sell.
Vanity cracks your fragile soul. You try to see yourself.
The mirror mocks your fractured glare. You do not know yourself.
Repeating someone else's words:
Another masquerade.
A promise broken is a lie,
Today as yesterday.
You try to tell me who I am but you don't know yourself.
You try to tell the hardest truths but you lie to yourself.
You never see where the crows go;
You never care where they fly.
You never pray in the crow's tongue
Or look through the crow's eye.
You only see through a clouded glass: looking at yourself.
You only see through a fractured lens: staring at yourself.

A Sorrow Spell
02:38
|
|||
Why put this sadness on me?
Why crawl inside my mind
With scrying bowl and tarot card -
What did you hope to find?
Why tie some phantom to my heart
To prove that it is there?
Why hold my hand at midnight
But in daylight never dare?
Why call to me when I have gone
And ask me to return?
O you could have had me once
But now that time is gone.
Why melt red wax into my hair?
Why knot a witch's string?
Why swing a little pendulum
To try to get to me?
You can polish an old bell
But it cannot be un-rung.
You can try to change the words
But the song's been sung.

Hear Her Wings
04:18
|
|||
While you are sleeping
Shadows come come creeping:
On cold fear feasting.
In the darkness hear her wings.
O hear her flying
But she cannot be seen
Until her eyes gleam.
In the darkness hear her wings.
Claws curled and scratching,
With red gaze staring,
What is she seeking?
In the darkness hear her wings.
The leaves are whispering.
The limbs are creaking
O she is coming!
In the darkness hear her wings.
With owl eyes watching;
Wild owl heart beating;
And feathers flying
In the darkness hear her wings.
